Not from MacWhisper's own pages (October 2026). Its developer also warns about other websites pretending to be MacWhisper. Ratproof runs in Chrome or Edge on Windows, and transcribes on your computer the same way.
Is MacWhisper private?
Yes, with its default local models: it says no data leaves your machine. It can also send audio to cloud services such as OpenAI or Deepgram if you add your own API key.
Do I need to install anything for Ratproof?
No. Ratproof is a web page. It needs no install and no admin rights, which helps on a work laptop that blocks apps.
