Whisper, without sending the file to anyone's server.

TurboScribe runs Whisper on its servers, so your file is uploaded first. Ratproof runs Whisper inside your browser, and the file never leaves your computer.

What TurboScribe says

What a policy can't fix

Your file still sits on someone else's server. Policies change, data leaks, and courts can ask for it. When the file never leaves your computer, none of that applies.

Which one to use

TurboScribe when the file can be uploaded and you want it back fast, or it is not in English, Spanish, Italian or Swedish.

Ratproof when the recording shouldn't leave your computer: a client call, a source, a research participant, a patient. It also has no daily cap on free transcription.

Questions

Is there a TurboScribe alternative that does not upload my files?

Yes. Ratproof runs Whisper inside your browser, on your own computer. Your recording is never uploaded, and you can check that in the Network tab or by going offline.

Does TurboScribe train AI on my files?

TurboScribe says it does not train AI or machine learning models on your files or transcripts. Your files are still stored on its servers while your account is active.

How many files can I transcribe on TurboScribe for free?

Three a day, up to 30 minutes each (TurboScribe's free plan, October 2026). Ratproof has no daily limit on free transcription.

Is Ratproof as fast as TurboScribe?

No. TurboScribe runs on its own GPU servers. Ratproof uses your computer and takes 7 to 30 minutes per hour of English audio, depending on the machine. You can read the text as it appears.
